What a weekend we just had!
Saturday we got up early to go to the World Trade Center Memorial. We saw the North and South Reflecting Pools, the Freedom Tower and the World Trade Center Station by Santiago Calatrava. It was a nice quiet time to meditate and reflect. Later on we headed to Battery Park and took the ferry to Ellis Island. There, we visited the museum of Immigration. It was very interesting and emotional to see all the barriers that the first immigrants had to undergo before entering the country. Some of our students could search their families’s ancestors and find out when they arrived in USA. After Ellis Island, those students who were tired had the option to go back to Columbia and another group continued a tour around Wall Street to end up having dinner in Seaport. It was a very historical and interesting day!
On Sunday we went directly to Dumbo in Brooklyn. We walked around the water front park and had lunch around this beautiful neighborhood with Manhattan skyline and Brooklyn Bridge views. Later, we went to Manhattan to enjoy some Sunday Shopping in Soho. Our students couldn’t be happier! They loved going up and down the streets in Soho. We finished the day having dinner altogether at an Italian restaurant: Aurora Soho. Another great day to keep in our memories!
