Hola from Barcelona! Today was a day filled with new experiences for many students. For one, today was the first company visit. After morning classes, students from Spanish and Entrepreneurship and Design Thinking visited SEAT, a car manufacturing company in Barcelona. Sadly, phones were not allowed so we don’t have pictures to share but it was an enriching experience for our students. The other classes will have company visits in the coming days too!
Students enrolled in the Photography, Art, and Architecture afternoon class enjoyed meeting their teacher who is a local professional photographer. Samantha picked up the students at ESADE and took them on an adventure to the famous Boquería market in Las Ramblas where she showed them how to use different settings on their cameras and helped them photograph the market’s stalls.
After classes, most students participated in a group visit to La Pedrera, a house designed by the famous Catalan architect Antoní Gaudí. It is well known for its wave-like exterior design and its rooftop decorated by whimsical chimneys. Through an audio guide included in their tour, students learned about how Gaudí’s designs were often inspired by nature and other fun facts.
Back at the residence, a small group of four students were cooking up a gourmet meal with a local professional chef in the kitchen classroom. Today’s menu included paella, huevos rotos (eggs over Spanish ham and potatoes), pimientos de Pádron, and crema catalana (a typical Catalan dessert).
Sounds like a long day, huh? After all of this, students enjoyed a pizza party and time at the residence’s rooftop pool. Goodnight to all! Hasta mañana.
