That’s a Wrap!

That is a wrap for College Admissions Edge, Session 2! It has been a busy week! Students took their final two SAT diagnostic tests, finished their personal statement essays, and reviewed more of the college admissions process. Students also were able to visit Fordham University in the Bronx! On their last night, students received superlatives and enjoyed an Italian meal together.

Thanks for making CAP 2 a wonderful experience!

Captivating Campuses

What a great first full week it has been! Students explored Columbia University and Yale University campuses. In class, they are continuing to learn more about the college admissions process, and have been making great progress on their essays! During their free time after class, students decided to watch movies and even play a game of “Mafia” together, facilitated by RA Ellen! Over the weekend, students were able to venture into Brooklyn and become a secret agent for a few hours at Spyscape!

Week One Adventures!

College Admissions Edge Session 2 is off to a great start! Students have a rigorous schedule of classes, from college admissions and SAT prep to writing class. We also embarked on our first college tour, of Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville, NY! Take a look at some of the moments of the first week!

A Delightful Dinner

Greetings, Summerfuel family and friends!

We are speeding ahead into our last few days on campus! Although students are hard at work perfecting their final presentations that will be given over the final few days, there is always time to pause for a fun evening spent with friends.

Last Wednesday, each floor group teamed up to create a dish for a collaborative dinner, facilitated by our lovely staff. With ingredients from the wonderful Westside Market down the road, the two mens’ floors wowed with a steak and chicken main course, and desserts. Meanwhile, the girls provided their take on appealing appetizers such as guacamole and bruschetta. Even CAP was able to pause from their schedule stuffed with SAT prep and college tours to provide the drinks!

After finishing their parts of the meal, the students enjoyed eating it together in one of Schapiro Hall’s lounges. It was a delicious pause in a busy day.

CAP Session 1…Done!

What a final week it has been! The students completed all of their classes, two SAT Diagnostic Tests, and visited Yale and Fordham! They asked many insightful questions on our campus tours, and we had a fun time exploring the campuses. Back at Columbia, the students held a community dinner, in which each floor/program was responsible for a component of the dinner. CAP was given the responsibility of drinks, and made a delicious lime concoction! To close out our program, students reflected on their favorite moments while enjoying some Insomnia Cookies. Thank you for a wonderful two weeks!

Wonderful Weekend

We had a weekend full of events! On Friday, we visited Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville. It was a beautiful campus, and students asked impressive questions about the academics and campus life. On Saturday, students went to Central Park and Columbus Circle to explore for a bit. Afterwards, they were able to go to different areas of Midtown Manhattan. We are gearing up for our last week of the program!

Celebrating the 4th!

Students have settled in to the classroom routine! They have SAT class in the morning, followed by College Writing and then College Counseling/Admissions. Students were able to take a much deserved break from campus to enjoy the Fourth of July in Riverside Park last night. While waiting for the fireworks, students got to know each other better, and even played a game of Uno together!

First Day of Classes

Students are finally getting settled in! They had a very productive first day, from taking their SAT Diagnostic test to exploring campus. At night, students were able to begin discussing the college application process.
